    Hi,

Are there any plans to meter apartments any time soon? Most apartment users would use very little water with no gardens/cars to wash etc yet pay the full whack.

    thanks,
    Js

    Hi johnnyskeleton,

    Thanks for your query.

Phase Two of the metering programme relates to metering dwellings that are technically difficult to meter (including apartments and shared supplies). Irish Water has carried out a study on these matters, which will form the basis of a proposal to be submitted to the CER for a 'Phase Two' programme with the aim of commencing this in 2017. More information will be released as soon as it is available.

I hope this information helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us again should you have any further queries.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah

I would advise that you register to ensure accurate billing. The deadline for the Water Conservation Grant 2015 has passed however if you register online here or by calling 1890 448 448 you may be eligible for the Water Conservation Grant 2016.

Details for the 2016 Water Conservation Grant will be communicated after the 2015 process is complete by the Department of Social Protection.

As you live in an apartment, you will be billed based on occupancy.

Currently, apartment blocks are billed on assessed, unmetered rates. Because of this, you will be charged based on average consumption for the number of adults in your property determined by the pricing plan set out by the CER.

We have numerous payment options. You can see a full list here.

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Kind regards,
    Kim

    Hi Kim,
I live alone in a currently un-metered apartment.

Due to the nature of my job, I am only home about 3 days per calendar month.

As this is outside normal circumstances, will I be able to claim back any excess charges once a pattern has been established that I am using much less than what the standard estimated bills were prior to being metered?

Would it be possible to at least meter the supplies into apartment buildings. that way, if the metered usage of the combined residents is less than the assess amount, then that could be charged.

Currently, we do not have a process in place for a claim of this nature.

This would all depend on whether or not this property is your primary residence.

If your house is non permanently occupied the unmetered charge is 125euro per year for both services, 62.50euro per year for a single service.

If this property is your primary residence, the premises need to be unoccupied 90 days consecutively in order to qualify for the non permanently occupied dwelling charge.

If this is not your primary residence we can add this as a non permanently occupied dwelling.

If you have not registered with us, a yearly charge of 260euro is applied.
