A quick one for anybody who has experienced this before, if at all. I'm looking for peoples personal experience in regards to bringing a car from Ireland to the UK for a period of six months to a year.

I assume we need to register the car in the UK and go through all that paperwork and take out car insurance there then? Have people found the process complicated?

Herself is moving over for the above period and reading up on the process, it seems pretty complex!

    Thanks :)

Does she definitely need to import it, any chance of using the exemption?

It's fairly time-consuming to get all the information together to register in UK, need to get certificate of conformity, insure on chassis number, get MoT etc. etc.

It was a little easier to register a car that had previously been imported from UK->Ireland, if that's relevant.
