Possible bad/awkward questions to ask in an interview

There's usually a bit at the end of an interview where you're asked "do you have any questions for us about the company?". Just wondering how the interviewers out there would feel if someone asked any of the below questions in an interview:

    what's the staff turnover like?
how would you rate the ethics of the company?
how would you rate the efficiency of your documentation system?

They're a bit dodgy in my mind but they'd also tell you alot about the company and what the interviewers themselves think of the place.

Would you be marked down if you asked any of these or be seen as a possible awkward employee?

Well there are a lot of bad questions you can ask....and I've heard a few :-)
But it depends more on how and why you ask them rather than there being a lot of no-go areas.
Using your questions as an example...

    what's the staff turnover like
    ?
    • Is this a new position or a back-fill position due to promotion or departure, will there be a hand-over period with an existing employee.
    • What is the tenure of the team that I will be joining, is it an experience team or a newly formed team ?

how would you rate the ethics of the company?

    • What are the company's values, what does the company stand for?

how would you rate the efficiency of your documentation system?
    • I have an interest in effective documentation and GMP, does the company foresee opportunities for improvement in this area that I could bring value to the company through my expertise in documentation ?

You should consider the opportunity to ask a question as a part of selling yourself to the company. It will be the last thing that they remember before scoring you against their hiring criteria, make the most of it.

    Just don't ask..

"How much holidays do I get?"
