Flippin' great news. Anyone is an upgrade on Colm and Al. The only downside is that it's in September and not now!

So it's a swap from eoghans show at the weekend for Colm on drive then ? Well fair play as the bits that I've heard he Colm just isn't cutting the mustard. So for anyone who isn't a fan of lottie Ryan or Colm Hayes then 2fm isn't the place to be from September then.

You have to love the spin radio stations put on these moves.

This is from the RTE News app.

Colm said the move to weekend breakfast "feels like moving home having done Breakfast for nearly 20 years".

That's brilliant. Back where he started.

Will Colm Hayes still be paid a six figure sum ?

Fantastic news! Not a fan of Colm Hayes at all, but I'm sure he will do a grand job on weekday breakfast.

I really like Eoghan McDermott and I think he will bring a bit of life back into that slot. I know I'll probably "move the dial" to 2fm from 98, as I'm not mad about Dara Quilty's show.

All this time later, I'm still saying bring back Will Leahy!

Will Leahy was so repetitive with his show. Even when he try to change the 2fm years to the school years it was just absolute trash.

Colm Hayes was good mid-morning he seemed more at easy chatting with callers unlike RTÉ superstar Tubs.

Eoghan has an in flatted ego, I think he told RTÉ to go **** themselves after the Marriage Ref, yeah indeed.... Funny I could kind of take Eoghan when he presented Pop4 on TG4.

Bring back Dave Fanning to Drivetime. I don't think it was quite drive time but it was from 6 to 7, had news, reviews, interviews some intelligence to it.

The Morning breakfast slot 7 to 10 am is like the bottom of the barrel, next Colm Hayes will be presenting The 7 O'Clock Show on RTÉ with numerous articles in the Indo asking if his load mouth was too much for RTÉ.

2FM should not exist and it's a disgrace that it does. It loses money and does not provide a service that isn't already being provided by the private sector. Except it pays everyone there more money. Licence payers money. I shudder to think what this individual is being paid.

Couldn't agree more, it's complete and utter trash at this stage, all day everyday!

what will happen here is they are moving all the older presenters to the weekend then they'll do a weekend re-launch, get rid of them all within a year including fanning, gogan, hayes and leahy and replace them with camp sounding young 'presenters'.

will leahy seems to be absent and has been replaced by mark mccabe a lot lately??

I think its a great move. I used to like his drive time show he did on xfm. Also as was pointed out, its another of the oldies gone. A lot of them are on weekends now and tbh they would make a decent rte gold team. Older people playing older music. Theyd suit it better i think

  • For some reason I can't stand eoghan on the TV but I do enjoy him on the radio and he plays decent music.
I will say I hate when he has his sister on so I hope that doesn't a regular slot

it has every right to exist, and it has some stuff that isn't provided by the private sector. what the private sector does provide isn't any better anyway. 2fm has a major opportunity to be something and it can be with management who are allowed to actually make decisians. national presenters will be payed more money then those on local radio. thats reality and happens in many places. deal with it. provide a link that it loses money

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

It has being lossing money since 2010 with RTÉ funding the service with the licence fee since 2012. check RTÉ annual reports.

Though unlike Indo stations it cannot carry as many ads

Eoghans drivetime show on xfm was very good. Was a regular listener and hopefully will listen now again. Shame to have to wait until September though

Driveby was utter garbage only made worse by the arrival of Al Porter. It's downright drivel at this stage.

I suggested this month's back on Twitter to 2fm. Looks like I've got a bit of sway 😜

It's in the annual reports. It's been losing money for years. No, it does not have a" right" to exist. If you're happy to pay for it, more power to you.
I'd love to know what public service you think 2FM are providing.
I don't pay a licence, so that's my way of 'dealing' with it thanks.

People really need to get over Will Leahy's more music drive. His Gareth O'callaghan style of broadcassting was long past its sell by date.

no they don't, and no it wasn't. it was a very popular drive time show that should have remained instead of the current abomination
