Extension - Planning Permission & Certification

Hi, I’m in the process of building an extension (700 Sq. Ft -2 storey). I prices from engineers for preparing and managing the planning permission applications and doing the necessary certification “Acting as Assigned Certifier and Assigned Designer”. I’m being quoted €4.5K plus vat plus the cost of newspaper ads etc.

This seems very expensive for what it is. Has anyone else experience of this process – are these prices typical? (Cork city area – local Engineers).

    Seems quite cheap to me

assume €1k for planning application cost, so thats 3.5k for the assigned and design certifier roles, which is very reasonable.....

Very very good price for the services you are receiving.

Very reasonable. You will also need them to act as PSDP (health and safety) so make sure that is included

This role is completely separate from the role of AC, requires far more time, responsibility and input so you are not likely to get this included in the fee.
