DPF, how often for a good run

I recently bought a 2011 Hyundai ix35 1.7 CDRI manual, its for the wife.

She is only doing short runs to the crèche, to the shop, all stop and start, in around the city etc.................which I know is not good for these diesel cars with DPF

    My questions are:

    1. How often should I bring the car out for a good spin (every 10 days, every 30 days etc ) to avoid dpf issues ?

    2. What is the best way to do this "spin"
Drive at 120 kph in 6th gear
Drive at 120 kph in 5th gear (to force the revs higher)
Drive at 120 kph in 4th Gear (to force the revs higher again)

    3. How long should the car be driven like this, 10 mins, 20 mins ?

I know these question are a bit pedantic, but im just trying to know the best way to avoid dpf issues, ive heard from different garages

"ah you'll be grand, these dpf issues are pie in the sky"
"oh you would want to bring it out at least a week and rev the sh1te out of it for half an hour"

Any advice welcome from someone who knows what they are talking about.

P.S. Before I get the "why didt you buy a petrol" .........for the car we wanted, there was no petrol car available plus we plan to move in a year and we will be doing a lot more mileage then.

Don't fret about what gear to use. The thing is to get the engine properly and fully up to temperature and keep it there for a while. Pile the wife-and-bayshts into it and go for a good long gallop to the seaside every couple of weeks. Live long and prosper.

Ah it is though. A mate of mine has a 1994 Audi Quattro 2.8, a proper four-wheel-drive one with a diff-lock and all. I have a 3l Jag. We're both middle-aged wanker types, something like Top Gear gone wrong. We both find it very entertaining to engage diff-lock/disengage traction control and envelop 'Felty Bora merchants in clouds of tyresmoke while shooting silently into the distance, saying things like "Daycint biys, puuure daycint! Savage boo outta her laaaaad!!" :pac::pac::pac:

Abandon the wife and kids every saturday for an hour, go and listen to Saturday Sport in the car doing 100+ on the M-Way for about 30 mins and the car will be grand. And so will your head.
