Interview tomorrow

    Hi all,

I've an interview tomorrow for clerical work in a university. I want this job as it's a great move for me and suits me down to the bone. That said, I've not got much direct experience per say so I'm going to have to use the aul charm and dazzle them in this interview to have a shot.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has any idea of the kind of interview questions that might be asked asides from the usual stuff? I'm pretty lax when it comes to interview prep because usually it gets me flustered more because I'm all ready for something and then they throw a curve and I'm at sixes and sevens. So usually I just let it all loose and take it as it comes but for this one because it's something I actually would like...I want to get things done right.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I think know about the department and the university.
Know what your role will be.
They will probably ask what you will need to learn / what skills you will need to aquire if you got the position.
Anticipate potential problems that may arise in the course of day to day work.
Think about what you can bring that other candidates may not. What experience or skills DO you have that are transferable and desirable.
Good luck. Remember be confident, interested and interesting. Let them know how much you want it and why!

Met someone recently who had a good take on interviews....

3 things the Recruiter/Hirer is looking for:

1 - CAN you do the job? (Do you have the skills?)

2 - WILL you do the job? (Are you motivated enough, 90% of the time?)

3 - Will you get on with the people in your department? (Or will you come in and 'rock the boat?')

IMO University interviews will be fairly straightforward - there should be a HR person there, and I reckon they'll ask pretty standard questions.

Roselm had good suggestions above...I might add that you should emphasise how important you feel 3rd level education is etc....and if you're asked about your ambitions, I'd mention doing a degree/HDip/Masters etc....

    BOL!

It'll probably be directly related to the competencies which were outlined in the advertisment. Have examples of where you excelled at all of these.
