Large Roundabouts Help

    Hey,

I have been doing some driving lessons and overall things are going well but very large roundabouts are confusing me. I know buses and other large vehicles can't really stay in the correct lane as their too big but I'm getting confused as to what lane to be positioned as with some roundabouts, the 2nd exit is slightly to the right.

For instance, is anyone familiar with driving from Wexford through to Newross to Waterford? There's at least 2 big roundabouts and to get to the correct lane for Waterford is the 2nd exit so I stay on the left hand lane. Is that correct? I have seen cars go on the right hand lane and then indicate out left when taking the 2nd exit which has me really confused? Is it because the 2nd roundabout to Waterford (the very large one) is a dual carriageway one or something? I know the general rule is for the 1st and 2nd exits you use the left hand lane and for the 3rd and 4th exits you use the right but the large roundabouts has me totally confused.

That's why you're confused. It's not the general rule.
It's the direction you're going which determines the lane, not the exit number. If before 12 o'clock (you always enter at 6 o'clock) use the left lane. If after 12 o'clock, use the right lane. That's the general rule.
