Hi guys,I am a student and I finished first year of my college course,I am studying Business and Economics. I live in Dublin.

I am looking for a summer job full time or part time but I am unlucky. I have applied to different type of jobs online also went to handle some CV's in city centre. However I have only been called a couple of times to interviews and the job involved door to door commission selling. The day after my first interview a person has showed me how the job was, that job was clearly not for me.

I use the following websites when I apply for jobs online ,jobs.ie , ie.indeed.com/,jobseekerfas . If somebody knows some better sites please post them here.

I was browsing through this website and came across this message

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. Signed up with job agency and a week later they have me working in a factory with zero experience. Not great money but it will do me for the summer and I am getting 40 hours a week. So I think you should have a look at job agencies in your area and sign up to them.

I am unfamiliar with job agencies. Do I need to pay them and they would try to search for me a job? Do I contact them online?
Sorry if that sounds dumb,if anybody knows some good agencies please list them here.

    Thanks.

I'd have assumed agencies would only be looking for candidates who are seeking permanent full/part-time work.

A summer role job prospect is one they would probably make nothing on bar perhaps a future client.

Agencies can sometimes place candidates as contractors for short term roles where you are on their payroll. They are invoicing an hourly rate for the worker which is where they make their fee.

You could look at contract admin roles? Or contact factory work as the previous poster. Just look for roles on the job sites. Email your cv to the recruiter named in the ad. Follow up with a call and try and schedule to meet the agency.

It's unusual here for the employee to pay the agency. The process at its most simplistic is they receive a job specification from a client, advertise the role receive cvs from applicants and they match the skillset..

You might find it difficult if dont have previous relevant experience but try anyway.

You could also check if your SU has a job site? Is there any stores or restaurantsopening near you? Post them your cv. Bars, cafes and restaurants? Student accommodation is often used as holiday accommodation over the summer. You could look for part time work there. Cleaning/admin etc. Friends working anywhere that need staff?
