Got a problem my mate parked his Irish car in Greece for the last two years because he had dispute with some local gal he shacked up with
Anyway they sorted their problems they split up and now she gave him back his car which was parked in the field for last 2 years
Replaced battery and car works fine except for the master cylinder for brakes now leaks air .
The local garage says they have to remove engine to replace the master cylinder and its costs lots of money in labor .
He wants to take car back to Ireland but not with dodgy brakes

Is the master cylinder that trouble to take out or are the locals taking the p1ss for him

Is the master cylinder rubber membrane dried out and the seal now leaks and is there some some easy cure like fill the thing with water or some chemical

If there is no easy fix Then I have to drive his other car down to Greece to pick up all his gear to bring back to Ireland . The original plan the easy option to jump on plane next week to join him for few weeks there in Greece and then go driving around chasing the local tail down there before he brings the car back to Ireland

Also is there any special tools i need to bring with me next week to help repair the master cylinder. Renault parts are easy to get down there. He has access to to lock up garage and basic tools so if we know what to look for we can set about to repair the car ourselfs if the loacl garage costs are too high

    Thanks

being brutally honest here...its a 15 yr old renault, is it even worth fixing and bringing back to ireland? i mean all that grief you have to go to? dragging tools all that way across europe.i say wet it with petrol and dry it with a match!:D

Its complex all the gear is in Greece .To ship it out via trucks etc will cost €1500

The car has low milage 70k and runs well

He bought the car new in 00 and is attached to it brings back hapy memories from his younger disco going days and working the car in the car park of the disco ha ha

Anyway the local Greek gal knew he liked the car so she got it brought to a feild where he had no chance to get in to take car back until he supplied whatever her demands were .

This video shows how to do toyota and its easy access 30 minute job swop in new one

    "youtube.com/watch?v=1IUVAuGrrgI"
New user cant post link so you have to remove the quotes braces " utube xxxx " to get utube xxxx minus quote braces

however I dont know how tricky is the Renault scenic is it buried deep in engine or the dashboard

its basically a megane so should be the same .see if there is anything on youtube or a renault forum. or why not try going to a breakers yard and having a look.ardee car parts let you bring your own tools to take the parts off yourself that way you will get a little on the job training before you head off to greece.also if you take the part off yourself they knock money off the price.

Thanks for the info will go to ardee to get parts for my own car a nissan and see if they have the megane or scenic there
There is no problem in Greece for the getting parts second hand or new the Renault is popular car there

Its just the issue where is the master cyclinder and access to it and do you realy have to remove the engine to get access to it
Hopefully i will know in few days when i go look one these things
