What is defined as full time work?

    Hi.

What is defined as full-time and part-time work?

Would 5 days at 5 hours a day = 25 hours per week be full time work? Or is there a minimum amount of hours and or days needed for it to be called 'full-time work'?

    Thanks.

On any of the CSO forms they specify over 30 hours.

Yes as far as I remember. I dont recall them asking number of days, just hours.

Its 30 hours or more with regard to emplyment legislation, you can avail of the Protection of Part time Workers Act, if you work up to 30 hours.

For Social Welfare purposes it depends on the payment you are seeking, max amounts you can earn what disregards apply, etc,

    Hi sparkling sea.

So if someone works 4 days a week, doing 30 hours in those 4 days -- that still classed as full-time? Even though they are not doing 5 days a week?

    Yes.

I used work four days a week doing 11 hour shifts

Same as the likes of the guards/nurses etc they don't necessarily work five days a week every week on their shift patterns

30 hours or more is the measure

Only exception would be some social welfare payment where working four days would be considered working full-time even if you worked only two hours a day.

    Hi Greenmachine.

Are you sure it's not 5 days for that?

You can only work 3 days if you are to get paid by social welfare. If you work four days it's considered full time so yes they are right about that.
