People that knowingly buy stolen property are no better than the thieving scum themselves.

    Would you steal a policeman's hat ?

It really does depend. Would I buy something stolen from an ordinary person like a phone or a TV? No way. Would I buy a bottle of vodka that had been stolen from a warehouse? Maybe.

Not willingly. I don't like gaining from someone else's misfortune.

We all do. Every day. Unless you're a 100% ethical shopper, and who is?

It all depends on the item, the risk involved and how much of a deal I was getting.

No, definitely not for me. I woke up one night with a burglar in my room, house had been ransacked.
They are scum of the highest order...and anyone who knowingly buys stolen goods is no better in my eyes.

No I'd rather buy the item in the shop at it's full overpriced price.

Of course I fecking would. If I don't, someone else will.

if it fell off the back of a lorry i wouldn't be too bothered.

There's no way I'd buy them. You'd have to be trash to buy goods that have been stolen from someone. So long as people are willing to buy stolen goods people will continue to burgle peoples homes. If a poster on Boards told us their home had been burgled and their property stolen we'd all think the culprits were scum, imho the people who knowingly buy stolen goods are scum.

I agree with this point, and I suspect most people agree with that too. But then again, in this particular example, we can most of us empathize and get the "that could be me" feeling.

I rather suspect that more people would be inclined to buy something nicked off a faceless corporation. I don't agree with that either. Somewhere up the way, somebody - or many somebodies - still suffer from that sort of crime too, just so some thugs can get some easy cash.

"Ah sure, it's not hurting anyone, XLtd will get over it" is the same sort of light-hearted (and light-minded) dishonesty as brown envelopes and the like.

No, I have been robbed twice and if I was approached to buy robbed goods, I would probably punch the head off them. If I found out my mates were buying robbed goods they wouldn't be mates anymore.

Unless you have been robbed you won't understand how unnerving and distressing it is, especially if you are asleep in bed when it happens. My wife still gets very nervous if I have to work overnight and she is at home alone.
