Hi folks. Ordered a new titanium mondeo last week. Dealer tells me it will be 8 weeks before car gets to dealership due to all the extras i wanted. Is this a normal amount of time?, as this is my first time buying a new car with extras id like.
    Thanks

Yeah, 8-10 weeks would be about right for most factory orders where cars are built in Europe.

Can be worse around this time of year as a lot of the factories close for Holiday, but if you ordered last week it should be built before the shut down.

As far as I know it's more then double your waiting time for the new Passat at the moment so your doing good at 8 weeks.

What engine you opt for ?

I went with the 1.6 115 brake, as it was enough for us, but the dealer rang me the following morning to tell me that Ford are launching a 1.5 120 brake diesel as of now at a supoosed 74mpg,so i went with that.

Yeah there doing away with the 1.6 in both diesel and petrol and introducing a 1.5 instead.

1.5Tdci 120ps comes in from July production and thankfully doesn't require AdBlue to meet EU6 emissions standards.

Now admittedly I haven't driven a new Mondeo, but a 1.5 powerplant in a big car like that just seems underpowered to me and would surely negate any fuel savings as a result?

Maybe I'm just used to 2/3.0 "dinosaurs" and the tech really has come along that far in the last 10 years :p

I was a tad weary of the 1.6 myself before I drove it, but it had more than enough power to move a big car like the Mondeo.

So the 1.5 at 120 brake should handle it on an even par. Fingers crossed :o

I might be looking at a tad longer than 8 weeks so, if the engine isn't available till July. Balls!!!!

Should still be OK - only 2-3 weeks from production to delivery, and there are more boats coming in at the moment than usual, to fill stock for 152.

They are just after sticking the 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine into it too.

I wouldn't be to quick to criticise it yet, it's still 160 bhp that nearly 40 more compared to the 1.4 tsi in the Passat which isn't much of a slouch either for what it is.

Ford are introducing a 180 bhp version into the Focus which I imagine should become available in the Mondeo at some stage if not already.

The 1.0 though I'd be sceptical about.

In saying that Ford haven't had many bad petrol engines in the last 15 years so who knows.

As someone who does small mileage I'm very interested in how these new ford engines perform. I've driven a few of these small capacity turbo and they're a bit hit or miss. The passat 1.4tsi has only 122bhp and felt adequate whereas the insignia 1.4t has 140bhp and has some awful flat spots low down in the rev range. It seems fine around town or on the motorway but feels really slow on back roads.
