Hi guys, another question i was hoping for some assistance on.

We are looking to convert our attic, but just put in a couple of velux windows and not build a dormer window on the roof.

I've checked the planning apps for the houses with just velux windows and cant find any, can only find ones with changes to the roof structure.

I was due to have a call with the local planning person on friday but we missed each other so will try to get them today but before that, can anyone shed any light?

Would it be a good idea to get someone who knows what they're doing to look at it first - to see what's possible - are the existing timbers strong enough - will there be enough head height ? - where'll the stairs go - wouldn't have though a velux itself should cause too much hassle-

we've had a builder and a surveyor in, both are saying theres enough room up there without making a change to the roof structure, there's enough space for a stairs aswell

Make sure you have an engineer engaged to spec the new floor which will rest in steel supports.

You then have to co okay with Part B (Fire Safety) of the building regulations paying particular attention to 3 stores dwelling houses.
