Looking to buy a goat or 2 and wondering what type of fence id need for around my garden. Its 0.75 acre so would need quite abit IMO and want to know wheres best to get the stuff. Im sick to death of getting caught out with being to busy at work and not being able to cut my grass untill its out of control so looking a goat or 2 to keep it down for me.

You probably be better with 2 sheep or something because you'd want a big fence to keep goats in afaik

arent sheep just as bad as a goat. What about tieing a goat, is it legal? Was maybe thinking of making a shed and have a collar and wire and move it when its finished eating parts of teh grass.

Sheep are easier to keep inside your boundaries as said above, apart from mountain sheep (they wont stay put either )

i've heard goats don't like electric fences
but the thing about goats is they'll eat a bit of everything and will spend more time looking for something different to eat than eating
sheep would be better at keeping down grass

You'll need a non-edible fence, OP. At least 40 feet high.

I kept goats for a number of years- and to be perfectly honest- even suggesting you'll fence them in, is wishful thinking. Deer fencing perhaps? In any event- I'd seriously have to second the suggestion to get a few sheep. They are easier to look after, a lot hardier than most goats (which have a reputation for being hardy that they really don't deserve)- and as mentioned before- do a better job of keeping grass down. Regardless of how good the grazing is in a field- goats will try to escape and will destroy neighbours gardens. Among their favourite foods are apple trees (which they strip the bark off) and rose bushes. They also adore ivy- which apparently is really good for them.

Unless you really know what you're doing- and are willing to invest in proper fencing and housing for your goats- don't go there. You cannot run them into a field, close the gate- and imagine that they'll cut the grass- and be happy to stay there- its not going to happen.

Of your gonna get sheep I would recommend getting a nice rare breed as you will only be keeping a few

2 strands of electric fence will control most goats if they're used to it in the first place - or electric sheep netting -
But goats get bored of grass easily- they'll strip the bark off any trees- strip shrubs and eat most things -
If you've a dog and the goat has a kid then prepare yourself for vet bills- they don't like rain at all - so a shelter is needed-
Reckon a couple of sheep would work better-
