help with frame size

    Hi,

Planning on purchasing my first road bike next week. I would have bought today but I was unsure of size.

I'm just about 6ft1, inner leg is 33.5 inches and middle finger to middle finger is 74 inches.

    The bike is http://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-road-team-carbon-bike#tab2

I went in expecting to need a 57.5cm frame which they call an XL. They only had a 55.5cm one to try, it seemed fine but the guy said he though I should get a 57.5 - I think this was because his chart went on height alone.

Anyone have any tips? I understand its a sloping frame, so maybe a 55.5 is more like a 58 ish in a standard frame/?

    Thanks

    Definitely the XL for 6ft1.

    Definitely the XL for 6ft1.

Thanks for the reply , just measuered myself there and I'm actually just over 6ft, closer to 6 than 6ft1

Should I still be looking at the xl ? Thanks

Could probably go either way then. If you were 5ft11 then definitely Large. Best to try both before parting with that much money. I could say you are an awkward size :-)
