Thinking of booking a week to Barcelona for the family (4 adults in total).

Would i be right to say an apartment would probably suit best, otherwise we would have to book 2 rooms in a hotel which would be costly.

Which sites have people used to book apartments in barcelona and any recommendations for nice ones fairly central and near metro link for airport. Have googled but so many options, so need some help pls !!

Was there last week. We stayed in the Sant Marti area just outside the centre. It was nice and quiet at night sleeping wise. There is the aero bus that goes into the centre from the airport for €5 per person. This is a lot better than the metro I think.

Myself and my wife stayed there for a 3 night break two years ago and booked an apartment through this crowd, oh-barcelona.com

The apartment was pretty reasonable price wise and was in a great location right beside the sagrada familia and the metro was just across the road.
The booking was straight forward and we were met at the apartment by an agent who dealt with paperwork etc.

Have used both oh-barcelona and friendly rentals on numerous occasions and found them both excellent. Hotel rooms are very small in barcelona so I'd definitely recommend getting an apartment. I like it down along the beach or close to Las Ramblas. It goes without saying to watch your belongings as pick pockets are rife in the city.

We also used Habitat rentals and this apartment is perfect for two couples, it's walking distance to Las Ramblas but isn't touristy.

Hey OP are these apartments quiet at night? I'd be interested in this too for next time, I'm a fairly light sleeper

The one linked was very quiet, it's on a side street in a residential enough area and the apartment is at the back of the building. There's a lift in that one too (which I've found rare in Barcelona Apartments).

Gabe1977 - do you remember the name of the apartments? Its a minefield trying to find a suitable apartment. Just want a 2 bed apt which is spacious, clean and located centrally near to a metro stop (a pool or gym would be an added bonus). Looking at the area of Eixample or Barcellonette. Any other advice?

I'm just back from a week in Barcelona, I stayed in Poblenou/sant Marti in a spacious 2 bed apartment 3 minutes from the beach and 5 minutes from Metro. Apartment was very clean and modern the whole process was very pleasing.

It was clean and in a great location beside the metro, sagrada familia and a tour bus stop. It has a private balcony and a working lift in the complex.
It wasn't fancy but it had kitchen, living room, air conditioned bedrooms and everything else we needed and the location is what we found great.
