Supination and orthopaedic insole

    I want to start running but anytime I do I wake up with alot of pain in my legs due to my supination.
    I've red that certain runners can help with this but I can't see how if I'm landing on the outside edge of my foot all the time.
    So I've been looking at insoles. I know I should see a specialist and get a custom made pair but for now I can't outlay 300 Euros for that.

    Has anyone used them or can someone reassure me that certain types of runners will help

    Would you not start with a gait analysis and try recommended runners for your running style rather than forking out for insoles that may not work anyway?

    I'd say go for lightweight, flexible runners. I use Saucony Kinvaras, great shoe.

    But also yes; should probably get a proper gait analysis done as well.

    Gait analysis, where would I get that done.I know elverys have a machine for it but I'm not sure how confident I'd be about the staffs analysis.
    The insoles are also for my day to day runners as they currently wear through on one side every 4-5 months.

    Go to a decent running shop then. If in Dublin The Run Hub, Amphibian King, Runways, Run logic.

    you could also examine other areas before jumping to conclusions, how often are you running? running too far too early is a common mistake for runners?
    Also you need to take care to mind you r pace and start very slow and easy and see how the body reacts - walk run strategies are very uselful at this stage as they allow you build your fitness without the risk of injuries. If you want to take up running seriously - now is thte time to focus on building strength - I have weak hip muscles and suffer as a result of not spending enough time on core work and strength exercises - pilates, yoga etc
