Booked a return ticket Dublin to Galway. Looking at getting an earlier train back from Galway, can I just jump on or what's the rules? Are people's experiences different? Also looking at jumping off at an intermediate station for an hour or two to meet a friend, can I do this and finish my journey after?

There is a €10 surcharge if you want to get a different time train . If you get off at an intermediate station then you will have to purchase a new ticket to finish your journey.

OP in those circumstances you would be better purchasing an open return ticket at the railway station, which does allow a break of journey, and also travel on any train.

Cheers for the replies folks. Already bought the ticket online and plans just changed, I'll figure something out!
