Music throughout house

We'd like to stream music to multiple rooms in the house. Mostly for when we have a party and purple are in different rooms.

We have a PC set up as a HTPC in one room, running Windows. Ideally we'd stream a YouTube playlist to every room from that machine. Is there any setup people would reccomend, sub 150e?

We could use a FM transmitter but the walls are too thick. We can put wifi in every room using tp-link so I'm thinking some program on the htpc plus android speakers, streaming from the htpc over wifi would do the trick.

I guess it depends a lot on what hardware you have already.

For instance I have multiple pairs of speakers that are unused, so I would probably set up something like a R-Pi in each room with Squeezeplug

and maybe even set up another as a Squeezeplug Server

But as I said, cost would depend on what hardware you have and what you might wish to use.

    Came across these:
    amazon.co.uk/dp/B00JKD099A/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_gE7HvbG2G277B

Need to investigate how to sever the stream to multiple clients but it does seem to fit my needs perfectly and at a low cost.

I'm a tad confused as to how this works for multi room?

You connect the Veetop HiFi AirMusic Box to the source, HiFi let's say and then you can play your music from your phone, tablet or whatever through your HiFi system which covers one room right? What's required for each subsequent room?

I would certainly avoid tying myself in to any particular proprietary format when doing this.

The key to multi room 'party' mode is speaker sync. Wifi is notoriously difficult to use to sync the audio across different devices. Sonos use a proprietary protocol to overcome this.

The walls are too thick for FM?
I never heard of anyone having trouble receiving FM because of wall thickness .....
