Oxy Acetylene Bottles

    I am wondering where would I pick up gas bottles, is it still hire or can one buy bottles etc. I am after picking up the rest of the gear and just need gas. Any suppliers, info very welcome thanks.

    Most larger motor factors and plant hire will have them.buy a full bottle and just swap for refills after. Usually they have 3 different sizes of bottle to suit.shop around as prices vary greatly.

    I priced these this year haven't got the prices to hand but
    From the likes of BOC
    1. you pay a deposit per cylinder refundable after 2 years.
    2. You pay a rental charge per month for the cylinder.
    3. You pay for the gas.

    The alternative is rental free bottles
    You pay for the deposit on the cylinder and pay for the gas fill.

    The disadvantage of this is most rental free providers supply an acetylene alternative that is not as efficient to burn.
    I think hobbyweld do supply acetylene in a rental free bottle.

    Prices and sizes do vary quite a bit.

    There is with boc anyway , it's to cut out the lad say with 2-3 bottles at home and only renting one or say a friend of his taking in his bottle and getting full one saying its same bottle , all tanks are scanned out now so they know what tanks are where
