Drive my car home

There was an attempt to do it here. I think the company behind it were advised that it may come under PSV regulations as it could be considered as driving for hire and reward so it put them off launching it. Other than that, I can't help you any more.

    Reading the web site
    How does it work?

You call DriveMyCarHome.co.uk to book the service at a pre agreed time and a chauffeur arrives on a unique foldable moped
The driver meets you wherever you car is parked
The moped is folded into a protective bag and placed into your car boot
You will be conveniently chauffeur driven home in your own car safely
Once home, the chauffeur unfolds the moped from the boot and drives away
The next day you wake up with the convenience of your car safely at home, without the hassle of collecting it from wherever you left it.
It's better value than a return Black Cab*
All it appears to require is a driver who has "any vehicle insurance" I can't see where the PSV license comes into it as he is paid the take the vehicle from A to B, the "passenger is not paying a fee to be driven (as such).

One for the legal eagles, it could fly either way.

I guess it may be how you are hiring and paying somebody to drive you from A to B in a car that isn't passed out and insured as a PSV. But, as I said, that's what I think it was that hampered it so don't quote me on it as it being Gospel. Hopefully somebody can fill us it in more detail here :)

    So, this then?

Could see it being popular in Dublin or Cork, not sure about other places.

Same idea as above and it would possibly fall foul of the same thing that I mentioned.

There was someone in Dublin doing this about 10 years ago, not sure whether they are still going or not.

There already was a company that did this in Dublin about 15 years ago. Think they were based in Inchicore. The fees were about double a taxi fare to your house as they said it's the same as getting a taxi home and then another back to your car the following day.
When it started the Late Late Show interviewed the owner.
Nobody I know even tried it saying they'd rather leave the car in the staff car park and get a mate to drop them in the following day.

There was an enterprise that went by the name of "slán abhaile" about 20 years ago. They seem to have disappeared into the ether. I'm not entirely surprised given my one experience of engaging them. I made a booking for 02.00 on the 18th of December and after sitting in my car for 45 mins from the arranged time I called them to be told that I had booked for the 19th of December. I hadn't realised that normal(sic) people would regard my booking as being for the night of the 18th!

Seem to be a number of operations in the UK for this so you would think there should be a workable model in Dublin for same. Last public transport out of the city for me leaves at 11.30 so I generally end up staying in hotel when I'm out but u would much rather pay what I pay in hotels for someone to get me and my car home.
