Oh why me? Form 12

For the last 4, maybe 5 years I've been asked to fill out a form 12, the revenue says that it's a lucky dip and I'm just unlucky.
My tax affairs are up to date, the only difference between me and the next PAYE person is that my wife is carer for 2 of our kids which means additional credits and allowances.
Am I just being picked out my chance, is it a case of once you are on the radar you always will be or are the looking for something in particular?

Are you in receipt of Owner Occupier Relief?

There could be several reasons why you're getting one each year, this being one of the more common. If you are receiving one each year, for the last 4 or 5 years, then there is a specific reason, and it's not random.

So, if you have income from a source other than PAYE (Like rents), have shares, are a Director, earn over a certain amount per year - these are some of the other reasons that you may be getting one.

I'm not sure of the importance of Form12 , but would think it is a reminder to send in your tax returns .

I would think that as a PAYE worker , you should send in your P60's along with a note asking for a P21 balancing statement and any other things you claiming for like medical etc , and this should suffice .

I'm not a director or have anybody shares, up until Feb I had an average job on an average wage.
What I did forget to mention in my OP is that I don't pay tax, prsi and usc, yeah but nothing else, this is due to the credits that we receive.
I havent sent in medical expenses in about 4 years cause I can't claim them back.
To be honest, it's no real hassle, it's all online, it's all pre filled out by them and the figures always match my p60. What I'm just worried about is that I may have missed something and in a few years I'll get hit for something that is unpaid.

The Form 12 is a tax return. If the Form 12 is issued, it is not sufficient to just send in the P60s etc, the Form 12 must be returned.

There has to be some reason why as to you are getting these forms annually. The best thing to do is, to write into your local office, and request information as to what is triggering the issue of these returns to you each year. 5 years in a row doesn't add up for the random selection reasoning you have been told about
