John Deere 578 Problem

I'm having a problem with a recently acquired JD 578. The stop icon and net warning icon are lighting up when I start the machine and are not going out. I've preformed the net actuator tests and they seem to be fine. I have no idea now why its still lighting. Any ideas?

is the baler working fine otherwise??
We have one and its always throwing up a few gremlins.
Probably the back door switch of the switch for the net cutter/knife.
When dust gets around them they start causing bother

    This may help further

Well we can't get it to tie a bale. untied bales are well formed though. I managed to clear the error with the stop and net tie warning by fiddling with the actuator control but I now have another problem. The monitor is throwing out a 313 error baler rotation speed too high. I've performed test 17 and the sensor is returning a value of roughly 450 (manual says it should be 250-ish). Maybe this sensor is broken. This one ever happen to you?

Is it not letting the net go out at all

No, its giving a error code that the baler is rotating too fast and won't drop the net. From the sensor test 17 the tractor needs to be at a little over idle to get the baler revolution speed in the range it says it needs to be in the manual - which couldn't be right.

Just asking, have you pto in 540?

^^^^This is It. Bet pto is in 1000 setting.
What is the tractor OP ?

No, I have it in 1900 revs/540rpm. But the way the baler rotation sensor is responding it is like I have the PTO in the 1000 setting. It's a new Holland ts100.

I don't know. Stumped by this, I suppose it could be the tractor output either

Is the tractor reading 540 rpm on pto?

It could be in 540E and a 1900 would be putting out 700 rpm

This is the way I've the PTO set. I don't think there's a 540e setting on the tractor. Not least one I can find.

assuming the tractor is running at 540rpm. is the sensor damaged or maybe too close to the spur or too far away, it could be picking up on two spots rather than one. , maybe there is a wire shorting causing extra pulses from the sensor
Does the baler take net when you drop the revs.
if it does i would look at the sensor further.

    Check this out,
look for a little 'laser' pointing on the main drive system on the side most commonly. Should flash on top once per revolution sounds like it's double reading on something if suddenly just jumped up. It's normally the small things with electrics you only find after riping the whole thing apart

Thanks for the advice. The net drops when the revs are dropped. I'm reluctant to do this in case it shears the pins or damages the gearbox by putting in such low power.

The new sensor is on order. Hopefully this will sort it. Thanks for the help lads
