Hi all, here's something I need to know for work

I live near the halfway house roundabout in Ashtown. Does anyone know if I can hail the 105 from there (it's not listed in the stops but it passes by).

Thanks for any help, let me know if you use that bus or not btw.

No you cant. If it stops there on the way into Dublin it's a drop off point only.

Cheers looks like travel.ie lied then. What does the bus eireann sign saying "expressway buses do not stop" here mean btw?

First of all where are you travelling to from the Halfway House?

    You didn't make that clear.

The sign means that only Bus Eireann local/commuter services call at the stop, but not their long distance Expressway services. Those BE local services pick up only outbound and set down only inbound at certain specific stops within the area served by Dublin Bus.

But without knowing where you are going, we can't advise you!!

Depends, Are you going into Dublin, or the other way.

The 105 goes from besford place dublin to the stop I want (AIB in ashbourne). Since it goes through blanch on the way, that means it probably goes down the navan road and past the halfway house bus stop where I live. I know bus eireann's 109 stops there (it shows up on the electronic timetable) so its apparently shared by dublin bus and bus eireann.

Someone I know also claims they saw the 105 on the electronic timetable there, but I have yet to see it. I saw the 105 pass the bus stop on the opposite side of the road (going to dublin) and it stops there.

You should be able to get the 105 if you are going to Ashbourne from that stop but if you want to go into Dublin city centre the bus should not stop to pick you up but may stop to drop off passengers.

Note that there is only one bus every two hours or so. It takes about 16 minutes from Beresford Place tot he Halfway House, but be there early.

Alternatively, route 103 has a stop at Harts Corner in Glasnevin.

Going to or from Ashbourne you should be fine.

The second post assumed you were going to or from Dublin from the Halfway House.

The 105 does pick-up outbound and set down inbound at Halfway House stop, always has.

While you can chance it and try to get picked-up at any DB stop on the route it is likely the drivers will not see you or be expecting to stop at any but the official stops for the route listed below.

    Beresford Place
    Mountjoy Square West
North Circular (1st Stop after Dorset St.)
North Circular-Mater Hospital (Stop before Berkley Rd NOT stop at new hospital entrance)
Cabra Rd - St Peter's Church
    Navan Rd - Tesco
    Navan Rd - Halfway House
N3 Blanchardstown Bypass stop after M50
    Blanchardstown Centre
Banchardstown Slip-road form Centre to N3
    Clonee Village

If you are going to Ashbourne at a time when there is only a Ratoath 105 you can get a ticket to Ashbourne and change to 103 or 109A at Ratoath Auld Stand.
