    Hi lads,

It's my dad's birthday next month and I was thinking I would get one of those phones with the big buttons and easy to read screen. He is 75 and just uses the phone for calling and receiving. He has one 'good eye' and one not so good.

I have seen ads in the paper for these types of phones and looked online too.

Has any of you bought them or have experience with them. Just wondering what the best ones on the market are.

    Thanks

we got this one for the father in law

he's 91 , you can pre programme 4 number into in along with a panic button at the back for calling emergency services , it also has gps for locating the person if you need it , he finds it easy to use , its fairly durable as well .

this one alerts a contact if the person becomes immobile or has a fall

Got the old man a doro phone too and it's easy enough used. To be honest he doesn't nearly need it because when he answers it id say he could be heard two counties away.

Are the screens easy to read? They don't look particularly big...

This is the one we have. Buttons are large and back lit. Screen a lot smaller than modern smart phones, but does the job. Very simple menu.

Tbh, forget about text messaging. Get him to make and receive a call and that's enough. Make sure you get one with the programmable quick dialls, unlike Nurka's one. This means he doesn't have to go through a phonebook to make a call.
