Desperation for bargains to feed the family is how I see it, it's not like they are fighting over 40 inch HD TV's that they could do without.

You seem to think this passes as humour given the amount of f*cking times you post those exact words.

I thought the same, queuing up for the discounted meat, might well be people trying to feed families on low incomes.

I think I read recently that something like 1 million people in the UK are visiting foodbanks http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/one-million-britons-using-food-banks-according-to-trussell-trust-10186142.html

Pride might well mean people will behave as in the op rather than resort to a foodbank

People at foodbanks are well mannered.

I wasn't suggesting they weren't, but in the UK there have been a plethora of "how to eat on £1 a day" and the discounted offers in the evening are heavily referenced.

This appears to be a bit of a brawl, but some people genuinely would prefer to scrap for a bargain than go down to a foodbank

I don't know about the UK but the people I see loading their trolleys from those reduced sections here look like fat greedy bastards as opposed to those struggling on the breadline.

Don't see the problem tbh. You gotta feed your family

On a local level given I know who they are and their background yes.

Well why else are they massive fatties?

    They're fat because they're greedy.

I've seen similar in Tesco in the Crescent Limerick, at some point late in the evening they take all the stuff with the yellow reduced stickers from Salmonella Corner and reduce it even further. The scrum of people jostling and grabbing off the guy as he tries to restock would this would give that lot a run for their money.

    I've never seen this.

People do without meat no problem. Much cheaper to do so too. Stupid to try to turn this into some political thing about poor people.

Not sure where pride features in that video. Different underlying values where you pride yourself on grabbing bargains or eating food you can't afford? They look bizarre, like something from The Road or Mad Max. I thought pride would discourage you from making a complete tit of yourself.

One of the best ads for vegetarianism I've seen anyway.
