I think 6.6 l is meant to be the max dose rate per year. 3.3 l per ha in each application in 200 to 400 l of water.

Why would you not use a non selective herbaside like Gallup or roundup.

We've used Gallup on rushes at ~80:1 and it kills well.

I thought Mortone and MC PA were the same thing?
In a licker, would you not need it at something like 1:1 ratio with water?

    Seems strong at that ratio

I used round up in weedlicker last year. Think about 10 :1 ratio and it worked great

For the sprayer with mortone I used 30/35 : 1, happy enough with results

@ Brian I have to use mortone .. can't have any grasskill as I'm in AEOS with the land I want to lick with mortone

Would tgey kill large rushes, does it need spraying every year afterwards?

It will kill soft rushes and you'd be very lucky to kill them all in one go so yes you will need to spray to keep ontop of them

We use a whatever mcpa mixture available ideally 50% at a ratio of 1 to 100

My licker is one of the "rope" ones, probably go at a weaker solution for a rotary "carpet" model.

just said I'd give an update on this. I did a 10.1 mix with mortone and got a good enough kill with it. field was very very bad plus i was using tractor so I was driving on a good bit that never got licked , You can see the track now that I drove on there growing back after topping. Will go at it again in spring with an even stronger mix

For mcpa they recommend 20 to 1 but a lot of lads find it more effective at 30 or 40 to 1. the reason being is when the spray is weaker it gives it a chance o get to the roots and kill the roots , but when its stronger it just burns the leaves and doesnt hit the roots at all

Fair point. Some guys go for 'the browner the better and the quicker the better', it isn't always the right solution.

Exactly... very good point as you say its the root you need to kill
