    Hi Folks

My sister has an old Sky+ box, and lately its acting a bit strange. In the Planner section the % remaining is not showing correctly. The other night there were only about 4 programmes recorded, I would say about 8%, but yet amount remaining showed something like 10 or 11%. At one stage it showed 4%!! Its really weird.

Then last night a film I had recorded just disappeared, and it then showed 21%!! The film would only have been about 4%, its all SD.

Can i do anything? Is it possible to reset it or should I ring Sky?

    thanks

    k

To fix it you will need to do a thing called a planner rebuild. Can't remember how to do it, but if you type into Google sky plus planner rebuild it will come up.

    Hi hawthorn,

    I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your sister's Sky+ box. There are a number of things we can do to help resolve this but what Slippin Jimmy says above is correct - a Planner rebuild would be the first thing to try;

    Planner Rebuild
This checks the hard drive, and shuts down and restarts the box without needing to unplug it. It will stop any recordings you have in progress but don't worry it won't delete anything from your planner.
    Using your Sky remote:
    1. Press Services. You'll see the Services menu with using Sky+ highlighted.
    2. Press the down arrow to highlight System Setup then press select. You'll see Picture settings highlighted.
    3. Press 0, 1 then select to access the hidden Installer setup menu. You'll see Installer setup with LNB setup highlighted.
    4. Highlight Sky+ Planner Rebuild and press select.
    5. When you see the message This will take a few minutes to complete. The rebuild will stop all recordings and reboot your Sky+, press select.
If you see Housekeeping please wait for more than 2 minutes or the screen changes back and forth to another menu, go to Manually reboot the Sky box.
    1. Once finished, the box will switch to standby.
    2. After a minute or two, press Sky. It can take up to 4 minutes for the green light to come on.
It can take a few minutes for Search, TV Guide and Planner listings to start working again.
    Manually reboot the Sky box

    Using your remote:
    1. Switch the box and everything connected to it to standby.
    2. Switch off the power and unplug everything from the mains.
    3. Check no lights are on the box or anything connected to it.
    4. Plug everything back in at the mains.
    5. Switch the box and everything else back on. The standby light should come on.
    6. After a minute or two press Sky. It can take up to 4 minutes for the green light to come on.
It may take a few minutes for Search, TV Guide and Planner listings to start working again.

I hope this answers your query but if it does not resolve the issue, please feel free to post on our Talk To... page here on Boards.ie and we can look into it further, or if you'd prefer to call in on 0818719819 one of our agents will be happy to go through it with you.

    Thanks,
    Sam
