Very pissed off with my employers right now.

They've only given twelve days written notice of a change in the contracted working hours instead of the four weeks written in to the contract.

It will now mean working weekends, bank/public holidays, twelve hour overnight shifts and six weeks of on call per year.

The only increase in pay is for the on call weeks and the amount has not been confirmed, though it will be at most €150 extra for those weeks.

This works out at a total of 2.71% salary increase.

    Dickheads.

Have you brought this up with them?

Yes. They seem to think it's fair.

As a matter of interest Chopper, would you be happy if they had given 4 weeks notice?

Not with what they've offered, but I'd be happier to have a longer time to negotiate.

Why is everyone a smart arse?

OP how many are affected? Is there any union?

No union and four of us are affected.

Would you all not get together and come up with a counter offer...there has to be room for negotiation. Employers often hope employees will just roll over...if you put a reasonable offer back they may deal.
Sometimes people have to push back a bit too.
    Best of luck.

Also if you're supposed to get 4 weeks notice of changes as per work contracts..you may have a case here if they don't follow it.

Citizens advice office is a good source of help too.
