Rosslare Port: Breakfast and Fuel

    Hello,

Travelling with the family from Galway to Rosslare for the 9am ferry, leaving at an ungodly hour and hoping to arrive at 7am so we will have time to grab breakfast somewhere. Does anyone know of somewhere nice & good value within 20 minutes of the harbour or would the onboard food be okay?

Also, are petrol prices nearby all about the national average or is there somewhere in particular I should fill the tank before heading to the UK (I have already tried pumps.ie).

    Many Thanks,
    Donal

I'd leave the food till on the ferry as its definitely edible, and its actually good value on stena. And even on Irish Ferries its affordable. Some give out about the onboard prices on Irish ferries but its no different than regular irish prices.
And if you (edit, that's you plural to the irish ferries knockers, not donalds) dont like irish prices, then complain about Ireland (and maybe consider that the high disposable income thanks to low income taxes has an effect on what restaurants chance their arms charging) not about Irish ferries

Theres a petrol station with normal prices there just as you begin the decent into the harbour - it was a great gas but is something else now. Theres also another station (Topaz?) back the road a few km, also with regular prices. I'm sure pumps.ie would back this up.
In UK the petrol is much the same as Ireland but Diesel is a saucy price, so it really makes sense to fill up with Diesel, with petrol its not so critical.

Not sure where munchkin regularly eats but IME Irish Ferries food is very expensive for what you get and seeing as they employ people on disgracefully poor rates using a loophole to dodge taxes and IE/UK/EU employment laws I don't see the relevance of the rest of his rant either.

Stena are a bit cheaper for food but still pricey enough.

I don't think you will find much in the way of decent food at that hour near the port, the Harbour View hotel/bar on the hill overlooking the port do good food but I don't think they are open that early.

There is a McDonalds just off the N25 (towards Wexford on the R730) about 20min from the port, better coffee than you will get at the petrol stations even if you don't like the food.

The petrol station above the port is OK price wise from what I can recall but there are a few others along the final 20k stretch of N25 between Wexford and Rosslare.

There is a bigger difference in Diesel than Petrol but both are cheaper here than in the UK. If you have a cheap local place than fill up before you leave and just top up before you get on the ferry.
