    Hi all,

I'm heading to north Kerry this weekend with my girlfriend and our bikes. We're planning on a 4-5hr spin, covering about 100km. Anyone want to offer advice on a route to take that starts and ends in Ballybunion, takes in some climbing and has a nice coffee shop along the way?!

    Cheers,
    Dave

The route of the Ring of North Kerry is a nice one - you could do it either way around. It has some climbing around Kerry Head and on the coast road between Asdee and Ballybunion. It's 120km but if you want to go closer to 100k, I would recommend going straight from Listowel to Ballylongford.

If you want real hills, by the way, you will probably have to go to the far side of Tralee but you'd use up most of 50k just getting to Tralee and back from Ballybunion.

The Wild Atlantic Way (WWW) signs are a great fool proof way to have a nice spin for yourself anywhere on the west coast. It's bound to be lumpy and you should be well served for coffee stops.

High quality coffee stops might be in short supply on the route I posted but you'll get a nice 99 in Heaphy's Supervalu in Ballylongford. My 80 year old father-in-law is their best customer. Go round the corner and eat it sitting on the wall.

Maybe just be careful who you approach. :D
