    Hello,

Myself and my fiancée are looking to get married on the 20th of August 2016 and are wondering where we could find a registered celebrant.

We have emailed a few people but none of them are available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

You have to contact them from the humanism website where it lists all the celebrants. Just contact as many as possible but to be honest you won't find it easy to get one though.
I struggled to get one for august 2016 and I was looking back in March.
    Hope you get sorted.

Have you tried Billy hutchinson yet? We have him and we are on a Friday. I'd say if it's a Saturday you prob won't get one too easy.

There are other threads on this forum about other types of celebrants if you are stuck.

Yes, to be honest we are looking for solemniser who can do the ceremony we are not religious and do not want to get married in a church.

20 August is a Saturday in summer so, yup, you won't be the only people looking to get married that day. Presumably you already have venue booked.

Apart from the humanists there are also spiritualist and non-denominational celebrants. (Google them.) Technically they are religious solemnisers, but they are happy to structure a wedding ceremony that suits your values and tastes, and that can be as God-free as you like.

Plan B, if all else fails, is to have a small civil wedding at the registry office some weekday before 20 August, and then a significant, but not legally relevant, wedding celebration at your venue on 20 August. You won't need a registered solemniser for that.

That's same date as us, I emailed everyone except the Cork & Galway based ones, none were available. A few if them said that there are a good few celebrants in training that will be qualified before then & to keep an eye out on the website for new additions.

My plan b was the spiritualist route. I got an inter faith celebrant in the end.

    Hiya,

Would strongly suggest rather than emailing them, to call them instead. You can get their numbers off the Humanist website. Reason being I was waiting to hear back on email from a couple of them, but as they were busy, they weren't able to get back and had taken bookings in the meantime. Also with the phonecall, you have spoken to them so if they aren't free, they may be able to put you in touch with someone who isn't on the website as yet.

    Best of luck with it.

    Hi all.

Getting married on a Sat in June 17 and after sending out a few emails it seems it's very much booking up already.

Can anyone recommend anyone in particular that would be worth emailing?
Surely withe popularity of it all now, there are more places to look than http://humanism.ie/ .

Also i'm sure it's been answered but what is the difference between the above and http://spiritualceremonies.ie/ .

Is there any real difference between a solemniser and Humanist?

    Have you tried http://www.marrymeireland.ie

I've worked with a few of the celebrants and the ceremonies were really nice and personal. Not sure if you have left it too late to get someone available though.

What date is your wedding, and what county?

Check out www.Interfaithministers.ie, non-denominational Solemnisers- yay!

Humanists are a type of Solemniser, they do secular ceremonies so no religion or spiritual aspects. Spiritual ceremonies can incorporate a spiritual aspect if you like.

    Any questions just shout :-)

In all these humanist ceremonies is this different to being married by the HSE?

A humanist will not have the legal right to marry you?

Anyone on the official list of solumnisers can legally marry you in Ireland. They may be a humanist, interfaith minister, hse registrar etc. The official list is supposed to be on the hse website. Some wedding celebrants can't do the legal bit so it's important to check with the person you intend to use. We booked an interfaith minister about 18 months ahead, but not everyone realises that many of them are on the list of solumnisers so they may still be more easily booked than humanists. It's also weighing up which option suits your personal views. Check out humanist and interfaith websites might help any decision. There are other options too such as hse registrar. Each offer something abit different in terms of the ceremony you can have. To be legal, there are some required bits to say/do.

A Registered Solemniser can legally marry you. So if your Humanist is a registered Solemniser, yes they can.

There are several organisations out that are approved to have Solemnisers on the Register, humanists tend to be the be best known Solemnisers after the Catholic Church, and are purely secular, but there are also spiritual and Interfaith/non-denominational Solemnisers on the register too. It's up to you to choose who you'd like to conduct your ceremony, based on the type of ceremony you'd like for yourselves :-)
