how to find proof someone is married?

Hi. Any direction would be appreciated.

My son has temporary custody of his child. The child's mother is in an abusive relationship and there is a protection order in place between the child and partner. We believe that the mother and partner actually got married but don't know how to find the proof. They may have married in NI. We know the month but not the date or where.

Anyone got ideas on how to get the info?

How is this any of you or his business?

I am not sure why you need to know this. I assume that there is a Social Worker involved in this matter. I would raise my concerns with them and let them handle it.

I am not sure there is any legal way of finding out the info you want.

Find the listing of the marriage in the General Registers Office in Dublin or Belfast, maybe order a copy of the cert if such recent ones are available

I understand you questioning why I need to know. However I don't want to go into too much detail. SS are involved and anyone that has dealt with them knows they are not the quickest at following things up. The temp order runs out soon and if they are married/living together then it has serious implications. Not excluding that all contact with his dad will probably be cut again by the mother who ignores everyone. There is a long history. Also mother's access is currently supervised so going to no supervision, no access for dad is a concern.

I know you mean well OP but in my long experience , your amateur sleuthing can backfire very badly.
Your son needs a good family law solicitor and you both need to stand back and let him or her do their job.
