Not sure if this belongs here or not.

I'm just wondering what the Benefit is of having Health Insurance over people that dont?

The payments are crippling us currently and I would consider removing myself from the policy but leaving my spousse and kids on it in order to save money.

    Thanks

Faster access to diagnostic scans is probably the biggest benefit; there can be waiting lists for certain scans that can leave conditions undiagnosed.

Other than that, much quicker access to surgical procedures is the next main one but its often no faster in life threatening situations.

As L1011 said above, faster access to the various types of scans and in the case of non-emergency procedures, you will get treated in weeks rather than years.

What do you need the health insurance for? Is it for hospital cover or day to day cover(by this I mean do you visit your GP/other specialists regularly or not)?
Also, have you looked at a business plan through your health insurance provider? They are not for businesses solely and are available to individuals/families and cost less than plans offered to families/individuals.
