How difficult is it to replace a toilet? Can I just go to a bathroom shop, buy a toilet and expect it to fit.
This wouldn't be a floating toilet or anything like that. Just one that has the waste pipe in the concrete floor. If the waste pipe holes don't match up does that mean going down the route of digging out concrete, etc.

a multiwick will cater for any mismatches, not always pretty :)

Certainly no need to dig out the floor, the new one might push out the loo further from wall
What about the cistern, is that new too

Yes the cistern will be new too. The current toilet was installed 10 years ago.
Close coupled I think it's called. The new toilets seem smaller, so the toilet part looks like it could be closer to the wall. The current toilet has a visible pipe from the cistern to the toilet but the newer toilets have the seat part closer to the cistern like this: http://www.davies.ie/image/cache/data/products/WSTB27B-800x800.jpg

how far is it from the wall to the center of the waste pipe.this is what your going to be governed by.You may have to move this pipe to suit the new close coupled toilet.[not an easy job],or else you can buy a toilet to suit your waste pipe

How to judge do You need to move waste pipe before buying new toilet? How much is it for moving it? Could You not use any multiwick connector?
I have house build in 2008 with old cistern - 6L and would like to replace it all(with bowl) with new dual flush cistern.

in some cases you can use a multiwick connector but not all.For example if the waste pipe center was out 8 inches from the wall, the base of the the new toilet could sit fully or partially on top of the waste pipe which makes it impossible to fit a multiwick connector.
