apply for any entry level helpdesk/ ITsupport jobs

edit: if there's non available or he finds it hard to get a job, I would consider working for free to gain experience. Once you get your foot in the door in IT support your IT career just grows from there

Thanks for that. I will suggest it to him but the idea of working for free may not appeal to him as he is having some financial difficulties.

Even doing a day or two for a local IT support company would be a great start. This way he could still collect dole etc

Big difference if you can apply for jobs saying you already have experience in IT support and you never know, the company might take you on if you prove yourself and a position comes available in the future

A local charity might require IT support, anything for the CV really

I went back to college with about 12k dept, I told the bank i wouldnt be able to pay them until after my degree and we agreed id pay about 20e a week(which I rarely paid but I wouldnt recommend that), then I paid them the rest when I got a job after my degree.

    best of luck!

I think this would be his best approach. Being able to still claim the dole would make a big difference for him if he were to work for free to get the experience.

    Thanks again.
