After the Hammond TT this weekend, Orwell will be promoting the Stephen Roche GP next Wednesday evening.

Always a fast and fun evening, this year we've got a women's race as well as the usual men's race and youth and novice events. We also have three sponsors on board for a prize fund of over €1,000, with equal prizes for men and women!

Dundrum Credit Union are sponsoring the overall night, while Lisney Dundrum are sponsoring the women's event. The Cavern wine bar will be providing prime prizes.

If you haven't experienced it before, it's a great race to both compete in as well as being very exciting for spectators - the 1.3km circuit is completed in under two minutes, so the riders will pass very frequently! And it's in south Dublin, so right on your doorstep!

No A4 race - it was tough enough to fit in a women's race this year, but we've prioritised that over an A4 event.

Sign-on for youth riders is on the green in the middle of the circuit, no need to go near the school. You'll see the stage/truck, and can sign-on behind it. I'll confirm times shortly.

edit: youth sign-on should be open 17.30-18.30

That was brilliant to watch last night. I unfortunately missed the juniors and the womens race.
The men's race was class. Great action, great sounds as the lads fly past and the pure all out effort etched into a grimace, nay a rictus, of paintastic suffering was deadly to watch.
I really thought Bryan Keane and the Lucan lad would hold out, the junior who caught them to win rode a very very clever race and burned his matches perfectly.
Bleeding deadly, and apparently the hot chocolate was gorgeous :)

It was a great evening out, even though I had to leave before the end of the men's race.

The women's race was top notch.

Watching the kids cycle their little hearts out was "bless" :)

The men's race... Jay..Sus... they really had the hammer down.

It was pretty amazing to watch them go at it. I have a bundle of photos I'll be putting online later and some small videos.

None of them do justice to the speed the women and men were hammering it at. There was a serious amount of participants in the mens race too.

Well done to the Orwell Wheelers for their organisations of the event, including the shifting of a certain car that was a bit of an issue :p
