I have a new Sky+ box and have installed it .
But to use pause and record I need some bits of cable with the screw in at the end . -

I have the splitter adaptor already., but can someone tell me the name of the pieces I need so I can buy online like ebay for instance ?

You need twin cables from the dish too box for sky+ too work as well as a phone line and eithernet cable

As mentioned you need twin cables to the box. However you do not need ethernet or a phone line. When you say adapter what exactly are you talking about?

Did the technician who installed it not do it properly? You shouldn't need that part at all!

Are you trying to split one cable into two so you have two cables into the box? If so your wasting your time as Sat cant be split like that. You need a second cable from the LNB.

    byte

That splitter doesn't cater for Ku band frequencies in any case.

Anyway, as obezyana says above, if it did cover the frequencies, it still wouldn't work right due to how the technology between box and LNB works (ie, LNB switches between Vertical and Horizontal polarity - these in turn are seperated into High and Low, so 4 states in all. So the 2 tuner inputs on the Sky box can't work independantly)

Was simply tryin' to set up sky+ to record / pause etc

Thought that splitting the inward cable into two would work , as it says on back of box '' dish input 1 / dish input 2 ''

Nope Sat doesnt work like that unfortunately. As byte mentioned above the technology is different. You need to run another cable from the dish to the box in order to access the plus features of the box.

That's exactly what it means, input 1 from dish / input 2 from dish.
    Two separate inputs.

Do you have a sky subscription ? I ask because of the DIY nature of your setup. You can't record without a sky sub.
