Looking for one myself. Asked a mate of mine who works in a cinema to grab me a promo poster. If you just ask a cinema worker can you have one when the promo is done, they are usually sound about it. There's also Amazon!

I worked in a cinema and we used to just dump the stuff after wards. Go into any cinema and put your name down, they're usually sound.

I've boxes full of old posters and movie trailers

My local cinema sells them and the proceeds go to a local charity-great idea.

Cinemas usually give you their posters that they're taking down so call in there and just ask.

(Now any idea what's wrong in the thread title? :) )

Ask a cinema and see what they see. Though they don't own the posters themselves, they still belong to the distributor. This is why you rarely see them sell any.

I got these two in a charity shop for 50cent each.I think they probably came from The Triskel Arts Center here in Cork as they show a lot of films of this type. There was a load of them but another guy grabbed nearly the lot.

The pity is that modern posters are so awful for the most part.

The Chris Pratt and Raptor Squad poster is quite glorious though!

Honestly stroll down the corridor of the IFI at any week and you'll likely find several beautifully made posters for new releases. I think the only posters that aren't given much attention are blockbusters that already have an audience with the title.

Check with other cinemas, if you can. What usually happens is the distributor isn't willing to pay for the shipping costs of having them returned, so usually end up in a limbo somewhere in a storage press. I'm sure some might be convinced to part ways with one or two if you ask nicely.

Don't expect the poster for that to be available for a good while yet! Ask a smaller cinema if they'd be willing to save one for you when a certain movie is running it's course. When I worked in a cinema, the place we kept ours had an amazing haul of movies that were out since the cinema opened - nothing vintage, alas.

Well I can't comment on the IFI as I'm a hick down the country, neither of those posters above is worth a place on a wall. Artwork is what I want in film poster not photoshoppery and first year college design course assignments.
