Aer Lingus Mobile check-in

I've just installed the Aer Lingus app. I went to the mobile check-in section. I entered my last name, departure/arrival airports and booking reference.
It won't allow me to check in and keeps giving the error: "We are unable to check you in. Please check the details you entered and try again."

I'm wondering if anyone's used the app recently to check-in. Does it have to be used within 30 hours of travel?

Also, the booking was made by my company on my behalf and the confirmation email was a different one. However, I've logged in online and was able to view the Manage My Booking options there without any issue. I've also changed the contact email and number to my own.

I have had issues with aer lingus bookings when modifications are made that the internet checkin or further changes are not possible.

still, you have to pay for checkin more than 30hours in advance so maybe its giving an error as it cannot check you in as this is a paid service that isnt implemented on the app yet.
(now, if I were to write an app I'd make sure that the money making bits work best to have me an income stream, but anyhow.....)

    Where are you flying from?

I experienced the same thing on a fully flex ticket from MXP-DUB recently.

I subsequently discovered Milan Linate was available for OLCI, but Malpensa was precluded.

As munchkin points out above though, attempting to check in outside the 30hr window may be the issue in this instance.

I've read their "whole section" on mobile boarding passes, all 2 pages of it... both my airports support the mobile passes.
I would've thought that even if it wouldn't let you check-in for some reason, that at least you'd be able to log-in to the booking and give you a message to say you need to wait X hours or something.

I'm pretty disappointed with the state of check-in apps. I tried Ryanair's before and that was a piece of crap. You couldn't check-in your flight on it unless you'd checked some tickbox at purchase, or something lame like that. Then I tried to buy a flight on it, and I couldn't select destination city, it kept going back to outgoing airport, argh...

Anyway, was just wondering if I was missing something. I'll try within the 30 hours just in case.

Is it possible that it has to be booked on the app in order for you to use the app to check in?

maybe. But that's the kind of info I was looking for. There's no documented evidence of that on their website anywhere.

You can still check in free of charge at the airport with Aer Lingus, so if you can't use the app or print a pass you're not stuck like you are with Ryanair.

You have to wait until 30 hours before check in to use the app.

At the desk ? If so,we didnt want the hassle of queuing at the desk.

We did wait the 30 hours to try the App,it didnt work,The App must have a bug.
