    Hi

I have an exterior silver alumium door, I would love to paint it another colour, is this possible, this door is dating back to the seventies I'd say.

    Would rustins alumium paint suit?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

In short, yes you can paint it.

Anodised aluminium is hard to paint properly without good preparation.
Aluminium oxide is very hard material and without going into massive detail you need to clean the anodising, paint it with an aluminium etch primer and then coat it with a good topcoat.
None of this is easy or cheap.
Being honest you'd be better off living with it or replacing it with a more modern colour if it bugs you a lot.
Just painting them with regular paint won't last any time as the paint will flake off.

I'd spray it. Pick a colour, tape it off and spray. I reckon 3 cans should do it.

Yes the finish with a spray will be best.

Absolutely possible. Can you PM me and I'll give you the name of paint suppliers who can help. My father painted his aluminium windows white, over 10 years ago and they are still great. So it can be done in any colour. Just clean them down and apply one or two coats.
