Disability Allowance becomes Pension?

I'm in receipt of long-term Disability Allowance, but will be sixty-six in the next few months. Will my DA automatically switch to become some form of a State pension payment?
Furthermore, is it my responsibility to inform Longford, or will my age-change
automatically be flagged on their system?
If it's not automatic, will it involve as much paperwork as the original DA application involved?

As far as I know it is not automatic, your DA is processed from Longford and will end as you turn 66.

The state pension is processed in Sligo and should be applied for at least 3 months before it is due to start. So I would get the form in a.s.a.p but some claims can be back dated.

It is less hassle than when applying for DA as their is no medical examination, only a means test, if not enough stamps for a contributory pension
