thistlex application rate for knapsack

Hey lads, I've a 2/3 concentration of thistles in one or two fields. Easily doable with knapsack before it gets out of control.

What's the rate of thistlex to water for this purpose

No idea at all. Google is your friend.
My thinking is that if it was any way safe the company would encourage you to use it and so sell more. If they are genuinely so afraid that tey specifically say not to use it then I would take the advice very seriously.

As for spot spraying thistles, I did some with Gallup, yes there was a little grass kill but the thistles are gone now and so too with ragworth, little scorched grass is no harm.

My guess is its the proximity to the chemical being applied and the increased likelihood of inhaling or being contaminated.

Knapsacks slip and break. You don't want those chemicals on your back.

Prefer in a sprayer myself on the back of a tractor with a contractor doing it if I had to get it done.

Just checking this years prices and found this thread
2.5ml per litre is what I use

Same active ingredients as Grazon but you need to be super
careful handling it as it's a different formulation and particular
dangerous to the eyes.

Wear proper gear, nitrile gloves, enclosed goggles etc

2.5ml per litre is equivalent to 1 litre in 400 litres of water per hectare
Which is the dose for higher weed numbers.

We have a neighbour that seems to cultivate docks and spear thistle which both spread by seed (he has a great crop of Ragwort this year too)

Creping thistle is basically gone at this stage and I **Cough** might be be
gradually helping my neighbour with his weeds, bit by bit in a way that'd be hard
to notice.

Spraying weeds in grassland with roundup encourages more weeds, you're basically ensuring that the next generation of weeds has no competition when they're coming up

Muppet beside my parents sprayed all the ditches both sides of the road and all that's growing is nettles briars and docks in place of grass now.

The only taste those guys have is in their mouth if they think road ditches look well after being sprayed with roundup, have 50 mtrs of ditch destroyed here with robin run the hedge after being spray with roundup last year, only i caught them doing it there would've been 250 mtrs....... b....cks
