Hi, my husband(was a plumber for 5 years) recently installed a new Mira shower in my ensuite but its making a very loud noise(louder than normal) and I'm worried about it. (Electrician wired it up)He took its own feed from the tank in attic, installed a gate valve on pipe near tank and run water through the pioe before connected to the shower. He commissioned the shower by starting it on full cold then slowly turning it up to hot and left it for few days before I had a shower. Turned shower on and a very loud noise was coming from it when water was coming out so had to turn off.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

I don't think it's anything to worry about. In my old house we had a Triton that was loud like a tractor. Sister owns the house now and the shower is still working perfectly.

Afraid of it catching fire or blowing up! :(

What does the hubby have to say? Is the noise any different from when he installed it?

If he ran a line from the header tank in the attic then it's a PUMPED shower, and those pumps make a lot of noise (compare to a non-pumped type that takes it from the mains). Nothing to work about. Just need to check that he fitted the rubber washers that ensure the casing isn't hard up against the tiled wall (the gap is also necessary for cooling). So only suggestion I can make is to check that the casing isn't hard up against the tiles.

It won't blow up or anything. Worst scenario is the pump is faulty, bearings gone. If this is the case Mira will replace the pump free of charge if it is in the 2 years warranty period.

Most noisy pumps aren't at fault. Quite often it's the acoustics of the stud partition wall its attached to.

Didn't use the rubber washers as my child flushed them down the loo :( maybe this is the problem.
