Have you got a tax cert, medical card,or any other document with your PPS on it?

Try calling the Department of Social Protection and ask for a letter with your pps on it. You may need to have it handy though.

No, dont have any documentation in the past year with a PPS.
Called the Dept of social protection. they said they have no idea how to get proof as they dont issue letters as proof.

They said i should probably ring the tax office and see what they can do for me, but they just didnt know.

That's odd, they did that for me a few weeks ago. Maybe the person who took your call simply didn't know? Try calling again and explaining the situation?

I didnt find it odd at all! Assuming i get to talk to a human, Its the standard response when i ring any any public office for information (im not even exaggerating).

The only ones who have ever been helpful are the tax office.

I contacted my payroll dept and they can issue a payslip with my PPS which should be enough, so on need to fray whats left of my nerves trying to talk to the Dept of social protection again.

Do you have a social services card or a public services card. If not, ask for one.

You can ask Revenue for a P21 Balancing Statement: http://www.revenue.ie/en/personal/p21-balancing-statement.html or DSP for a Social Insurance contributions record: https://www.welfare.ie/en/pages/secure/RequestSIContributionRecord.aspx

Proof of PPSN is not required to open a bank account. Proof of address is required and proof of your PPSN from Dept is one of the options given. It's the proof of address they require. The Dept do not provide a proof of address service.

Their application form asks for it. It does not say proof of address or PPS. Its very much an AND:
