This is going to be on sale in Lidl on Thursday, looking for reviews - as I couldn't see anything on google. Just wondered if it might be a good buy as a family tent? Planning on camping with kids, which I haven't tried before- and don't want to spend too much, just in case I'm left traumatised by the experience.

A that price it's a bargain for family stuff. Back garden camping or sites in the summer should be fine with it.

Don't see it standing up to severe winds or extremely heavy rain but (from what I remember from looking at the poster the other day) it claims to have a HH of 3000, which should keep most rain off of you.

Basically it's likely a decent buy if you're looking for an intro tent for a family which won't need to be used in severe weather. If ye catch the camping bug ye can shell our for a better tent when it wears out.

I just saw that tent on lidl's page. It looks fine. You will pay double the price for a branded tent.

Thanks for replies, think I'll go for it. As someone mentioned it could be a good introduction tent to see if camping is for us. Fingers crossed there in stock tomorrow when I get there.

Did you get it? If so don't forget a little review when you put it up and if you are new to camping then please please put it up as a test before you take it out and use it. If you don't have a garden then take it to the local park.

We actually bought one from Lidl about three summers ago, so here's my thoughts.

It is a fine tent for a weekend break, its a proper tent with a decent lelvel of features, except for one thing which disappointed us. It's ground sheet was not sewn in!

In other words there was a gap between the ground sheet and the tent wall.

Apart from the ground sheet issue we thought it was a good tent for a weekend break. We then went on to purchase another tent (similar design/twice the price) for our two week camping holiday. The extra money was worth it (for the extended break) . . .

    Hope this helps.

Yep purchased tent, and have it up in the back garden. First thing I noticed was the weight of the bag, very heavy. I think it stated 15kg , not sure if that's a normal weight - but I think I expected it to feel lighter. Thought the instructions weren't great, bit sketchy - probably didn't help that we had a 2 year old with a mallet helping out at the time. Once up, it looked great - but again I am a novice - who doesn't know any better. It seems spacious. The sleeping section has a sewn in groundsheet, but the porch doesn't. Also the entrances doesn't zip all the way round, but have a flap at the bottom. Its been up a couple of days now, and its been raining and the tent seems to be holding up fine. Next we have to do a night in the garden- just need to hide mallet from the toddler.
