Cost of replacing a canopy ?

    Hi,

The canopy above my hall door is rotten and has started to collapse (see photos), so I looked for quotes to get it replaced. I got two quotes and the difference was ridiculous. One quote was a bit cheaper than I was expecting and the other one was 10x more expensive. I'm willing to pay a bit more if it will last longer but 10x seems a bit steep. So what should a job like this cost ?

    Thanks,

    Usjes.

What is the top of the canopy covered with, is it lead, bitumen or some other material

I don't know, it looks almost like some sort of industrial strength masking tape. Its metalic in colour and about 1mm thick in strips a couple of inches wide. But to be honest I dont think it really matters as I want the entire thing replaced, I'm not looking to patch up the existing one as the wood is all rotten. So I want the cost of replacing it with a brand new one using whatever is the industry standard covering for a canopy.
