Adult dependant establishing their own eligibility for JSA
If a couple are on JSA under the husbands claim but the wife wants to do BTEA, she now needs to make her own JSA claim. How does this affect the couple? Will the wife have to wait long for her claim to go through? Will payments be stopped while the claim is going through?
Would love to hear from people that have gone through the process or know anything about it

Payments wouldnt be stopped while the claim is going through. The length of time would depend on the work load within the office. If an Adult dependant is intending applying for BTEA for the coming academic year then it would be advisable that they start the process of establishing their own claim as early as possible. Also be aware once the adult dependant has their own claim they will have to be available and looking for full time work. Evidence of this may be requested.
