Trading Internships / Getting started

    I was wondering if anyone had any info on breaking into trading via internships etc.
    I'm a medical graduate with a few years work experience.
    Previously had an interview with Dublin firm for a trainee position and did reasonably well but was unable to follow through due to family problems at the time (i.e I couldn't take a pay cut). They were recommended by a friend.
    I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to firms to send CV's to or the best way to go about it for those with the non traditional degree.
    Any help at all is appreciated.
